보안 / 안녕하세요. 간단한 소개 부탁드립니다. 인스타그램을 보니까 스스로를 ‘선동자insurrectionist’로 표현해놓으셨던데요.
줄리앙 / 하하. 줄리앙 레비입니다. 파리에서 태어난 프랑스인이지만 뉴욕에서 6년정도 살았었고 지금은 도쿄에서 살며 작업하고 있습니다. 글을 쓰고 영화를 찍고 있어요. 전에는 펑크밴드를 하기도 했지만 지금은 하지 않습니다. 그래도 영화의 배경음악으로도 사용하곤 해요. 영화들이 대부분 혁명에 대한 주제들을 다루고, 저도 철학대학을 다니며 혁명에 대한 공부를 많이 했었어요. 그래서 ‘선동자insurrectionist’라는 단어로 소개하곤 합니다.
보안 / 어떤 종류의 영화들이라고 할 수 있나요?
줄리앙 / 다큐멘터리와 뮤직비디오를 만들기도 하지만 대부분 극영화입니다. 소셜필름 프로젝트를 계획하고 있는 것이 있어서 서울에서 프로듀서, 배우분들과 미팅을 계속 하고 있습니다.
보안 / 보안스테이는 어떻게 알게 되셨나요?
줄리앙 / 서울에 사는 친한 친구가 있어요. 그녀도 배우인데, 삼 주 전에 도쿄에 왔었거든요. 그 친구가 보안스테이를 추천 해주더라고요.
보안 / 서울에서도 촬영을 하셨나요? 오늘은 어떻게 보내셨나요?
줄리앙 / 아직요. 내일정도에 해볼까 합니다. 오늘은 계속 미팅을 했어요. 그래도 저녁에는 타투를 받으러 가려고 한답니다. 아직 어디에 받을지는 정하지 않았지만 팔에 하지 않을까 싶어요. 도이라는 멋진 타투이스트에게 받을 예정입니다.
보안 / 줄리앙이 여성을 찍은 사진들을 봤는데 좋던데요.
줄리앙 / 고맙습니다. 인물 사진을 찍을 때 아날로그를 고집합니다. 젊은 여성들을 주로 촬영하는데 전형적인 여성상이 아닌 친밀해보이면서도 슬픈 느낌을 주는 사진들을 촬영합니다.
보안 / 계획하고 있는 전시나 상영회가 있나요?
줄리앙 / 하고 싶죠. 아직 한국에서는 촬영을 제대로 해본 적이 없어요. 전시나 상영회도 마찬가지고요. 좋은 장소 있으면 알려주세요.
보안 / 이 곳은 어떤가요?
줄리앙 / 정말 좋죠. 스크린도 크고 좋아보여요. 봄에 다시 한국 올 예정이기도 하고요.
보안 / 보안스테이에 지내는 건 어떠셨나요?
줄리앙 / 정말 좋았어요. 특히 뷰가 정말 멋있었죠. 아주 간결하고 불필요한 것이 하나도 없는 깔끔함이 좋았어요. 어젯밤에 자정쯤 숙소로 들어왔는데 창 밖에 눈이 내리는 모습이 정말 아름답더라고요. 조명도 좋았습니다.

Boan / Hello Julien. Could you introduce yourself briefly? As i checked your instagram you describe yourself as a insurrectionist.
Julien Levy / Haha. My name is Julien Levy. I used to live in New York for six years. Now i live in Tokyo. But i born in Paris. I’m french and i’m a writer and filmmaker, so i make movies. I used to play in punk band. but i don’t play anymore. but used the musics in my film.
Those movies talk about a lot like revolutions and i studied a lot. I was in the university of philosophy in Paris.
Boan / What kind of films you made?
Julien Levy / It is bit more like documentary and music video, but most of time it is fiction. I have meetings in Seoul. I have like a social film project. So i just wanted to come here meet some producers, actress, people are who ready to work for me.
Boan / How did you know this place. How could you decide to stay in Boanstay?
Julien Levy / I have a really good friend in Seoul. She is also an actress. she was in tokyo i three weeks ago. and she told me ‘you should stay in Boan’. She called Soy Kim. She recommended.
Boan / Did you take a shoot in Seoul? How was your day?
Julien Levy / Not yet. Maybe tomorrow. Today I had few meetings already. But i’m gonna get a new tattoo today night. I still don’t know where to get, but maybe one of my arms. He is a really good tattoo artist. He is called Doy.
Boan / I love your photos of womens.
Julien Levy / Thank you. I used to take a shoot in analogue, it’s never digital and I love to work young girls, they look intimate and sad. People always take a shoot them as typical way.
Boan / Do you have any plan to exhibition or screening?
Julien Levy / I would love to. But i never worked in Korea, never shoot in Korea before. It’s only internet. So If you know the place to screening then let me know.
Boan / What about this place?
Julien Levy / That’s really great. The screen looks nice and cool. Let’s make it. Also I need to come back in spring.
Boan / Is there any uncomfortable things through your stay?
Julien Levy / I loved the stay. Love views. It’s super simple and there is no bull shits. Last night i came back at midnight. Snowing outside through the window. so i think it was so beautiful. also the light is so beautiful.
