“We had a wonderful time at Boan Stay, where we spent about 2 weeks in Korea. We greatly appreciated the very comfortable rooms. We could not work in our room because our beds were too comfortable for us. (haha)
What we loved most about Boan Stay was the shared kitchen area we were able to use. Even back at our home base in Laagencia, we have a common kitchen area where we gather and hold our meetings. Kitchens are also a heart of Latin American Culture. We eat, talk, and share in the kitchen.. its a place where everyone naturally gather. Boan Stay’s kitchen, very naturally became our meeting place and brainstorming space as well during our stay. We enjoyed the quite seperation from the noisy city. The space made us feel very much at home.
We also had a fun expereince having to go to the public bath near by Boan Stay. It was quite a new experience, but we liked it very much. It inspired us to try another bigger public bath in the local area. It was an excellecnt way to to treat ourselves to relax and have fun at the same time.
This is our very first visit to Korea and we loved it very much. We were invited to part take in the exhibition “Working for the Future Past” at Seoul Museum of Art. Everyone has been incredibly hostpitable and generous to us with thier time and knowledge. There is so much too see and many good foods to try. One of our favorite excursions was our trip to Dong-Myo, a large street market that sold many different kinds of interesting materials and special souvenirs for us to remember our time in Korea.”

Laagencia is an office for art projects that nurtures the research and processes on art + education, and stimulates the debate about artistic and instituting practices, experimenting and proposing different strategies and work methods for mediation formats, collaborative public programs, self-publication intelligences and alternative ways of doing with others. Through its current research and open program ” School of Garage ” (Garage School), Laagencia aims to give visibility to a larger number of local, national and international initiatives and interests that inquire into different ways of knowledge production, and its channels of circulation. The project is conformed by five artists, there is no power structure, they are all directors, producers and participants.
